3220 Crest is a new apartment building being constructed on Mercer Island, WA. My contribution to the project included creating the name and identity of the 6 unit complex and designing the monument sign and building plaques.
The owners wanted the building to have a funky yet sophisticated vibe in contrast to the expensive luxury buildings on Mercer Island. Plus they wanted to convey the Northwest feel without drifting into the classic craftsmen genre. Using the address plus the local vernacular for the Island Crest Way street, we named the project 3220 Crest. Using a slightly altered font I was able to convey that organic feel of the Northwest but maintain an industrial cosmopolitan feel. By using Corten steel for the monument sign we were able to enhance that industrial earthy feel.
